Blog Candy and Lily is a Fairy

This is the card I made for Pink Cat Studio's contest. I'm so excited that Melissa is going to make Lilly a fairy! I'm sure the stamp set will be adorable. Are you ready to get your wallets out tomorrow?!? Because the PCS stamps are just too cute. Who can resist Billy as a Cupid?

And you probably noticed the sketch...this is my very first time playing with Mojo Monday. This is sketch #69. Lastly, I'm starting my February birthday cards...aren't you proud of me?

Paper: CTMH Day Dream
Stamps: Pink Cat Studio, CTMH
CTMH Buttons, Copic Markers, Cuttlebug Embossing, and Crystal Stickles

Do you all remember a few months ago when I "LOST" one of my circle nestabilities die? And I was really sad about it? Well, after two weeks of not finding it, I ordered another set. When I tell you where I found it, you'll all laugh at me. It was stuck inside of one of my Bella Binders. Now, I own 7 of these...and I stamp lotsa lotsa images at once. It's really rare, except to add new stamps, that I flip through my binders a lot.

So...I have a Large Regular Circle Nestabilities Die set up for grabs. You do need a die cutting machine to use these. :)

My question is...whats the craziest thing you've done for someone on Valentine's Day? You will have until Sunday night to answer and I'll draw a winner on Monday morning.

When I was freshman in college (I started dating Brent the summer before our sophomore year of college), I was a part time teller at Bank of America. There was this gorgeous older guy that worked across the street and would come into the bank everyday at 11:58 am. While I had a crush on him, I was always very professional with him when he came in. Over 4-5 months, I really got to know this guy (he would talk about his friends and family) and used Valentine's Day as an excuse to finally tell him, lol.

So I bought a huge bag of conversation hearts and I picked out all of the ones that said "Call Me" and made a cute little bag with my phone number inside. I went across the street to his office and left it at the front desk. He came over after work and thanked me for his gift...and he asked me what I was doing that night. Unfortunately, my best friend's boyfriend had just broken up with her, so I had planned on going out with her. He was going to a party...

He never called me, lol...but I don't have any regrets...I got Brent in the end. :)

  1. On my first Valentines Day being married, my husband and I were in the Army and he was deployed to Iraq. I couldn't handle the thought of being alone, so I asked my female sergeant to go to dinner with me. We had fun although going out to eat for Valentines was more than a little crazy. Afterwards I went and wandered around Wal-Mart. I ended up buying myself a 1000 piece puzzle, a dozen purple roses, and I Skillsaw for my husband. I don't think he has ever used it. Oh well such is life.

  3. This was really crazy, but turned into a fun tradition.

A guy friend was feeling very lonely one Feb as his girlfriend had recently dumped him stating there was no point in having to buy Valentine gifts.

Two of my girl friends and I decided to take him on a Valentine's date to cheer him up. We made reservations at a nice restaraunt and suprised him with a dinner out with three women!

We were given lots and lots of looks that night as we fawned over our friend. So we made a promise to always spend Valentine's together if we were not romantically inclined, so none of us would have to be alone. (thankfully, this only occurred one more year!)

  4. Not to crazy but funny..
We went to Shaker Village last Valentines day. They have a huge dinner with Prime Rib and Shrimp and we rented a house to stay all night. The next morning we woke up to an ice storm. On our way out we fell a lot and laughed a lot.
We almost did not make it back up the hill to check out.

  5. Very pretty card Sparkle! I love Mojo Mondays! I’m going WAY back here for my story; my first year of high school I started dating this guy named Matt – for Valentines I decided to make him a nice dinner (NO idea what I was doing!) so I started a lemon chicken and pasta dish. Did I mention I had NO idea how to make this… hmm… maybe I’ll cook up the chicken with some lemon juice… half a squeeze bottle later, we sit down to eat… the chicken was completely SOUR! Tasted like lemonade with the sugar left out! HAHA!! Needless to say, we ate the pasta and got some fast food later! I don’t think I’ve ever cooked for someone on Valentines EVER again! Thanks for the chance to win! I need a set of plain nesties!

  6. About 20 years ago, I went to Rick's work and found his car. I wrote all over the windows with red lipstick: I love you, You're Hot, Happy V-Day, etc. Then I got into the car, put lipstick on, and kissed the rear view mirror. When I looked up, his boss (who had parked right next to him) was staring at me! I just smiled, got in my car, and drove away. Well the story spread like wildfire. Poor Rick~he was teased about that for weeks!

  7. Sparkle, what a great story and great stories in the comments of the others! I don't have a great Valentine's story but my most memorable Valentine's day was going out to dinner with 3 of my "newly" single friends who were bitter and depressed and wanted to forget all about the holiday. We were "Bitter, party of 4" for the evening and had a blast! Great Blog Candy!!!

  9. Cute card, Sparkle!

Oh my goodness....the craziest thing I've ever done for Valentine's Day....let me get my list of "crazy things I've done" out....LOL........

I had a guy friend that lived 3 1/2 hours away through a windy canyon and...slick roads...so on Valentine's day when I was a Junior in HS my mom let me go see him....it was gonna be a total surprise..... So a friend of mine and I jumped in my car and headed off...we got to Afton and called him, but he didn't answer...so we were on our way to his house and we saw his truck at a local restaurant....so we went in there and he was having dinner with some girl...we totally crashed their date...although...he didn't mind, but I think she did.....

so we had Valentine's dinner, then we went and got our wet suits and jumped off a bridge that is in town, that you're not supposed to jump off of since it's about 100 ft. up! :D YES, in February...we jumped off a 100 ft. bridge..into freezing cold water...but it was a BLAST! :D then at 11:00 at night my friend and I had to drive home......

  11. I don't know that it's crazy, but my husband and I will be celebrating our 12th Valentines Day together this year. Every year we get dressed up and try and have a nice evening out. Except we never make it. Not because we *censored*, but because inevitably one of us fall asleep on the couch waiting for the other. And it's NEVER the same person!

  12. Hi Sparkle!

Beautiful card (as always!), and thank you for the chance to win a great prize.

The craziest thing I ever did was making a cute little cheque/ voucher book full of little gifts or gestures that could be cashed in on demand.

Not very crazy I hear you say, but when I tell you that I made the cheque book before I wrote the list of treats, so I had more pages than I needed, which I then needed to fill - so I had to pad it out with "Wash the Car" and "Breakfast In Bed", and far too many other treats that quite frankly I didn't want cashing in!!!

Anyway, even though he did cash them all (drat!!!), I still agreed to marry him (we've been married for 10 years, this year).

Oh, by the way, did I mention that his Birthday is actually on Valentines Day - how sweet is that?!?!?

  13. 6 years ago this February 14th my sister and I were in Kansas City visiting my son who was in College there. A friend of my sister's husband was traveling from Oklahoma to Iowa and there was a bad snowstorm in Iowa. He had called his friend (my brother in law) to check on the weather and was told the roads were bad but (his wife) my sister was in Kansas City. WEll, long story short, he called my sister and asked her to get him a room at the same hotel and we all decided to go out to eat. It was a Friday night and without reservations, we were out of luck for getting any good food...until I had an idea. I asked him, "where would no man in his right mind take a woman on Valentine's Day.....HOOTERS!" Yep, that's where we went to eat and had a great time. We married a year and a half later and are living happily ever after! Whenever possible, we still eat at Hooters on Valentines Day!

  14. Love your card. I laughed about losing your nestabilities and then finding it after you had ordered the replacement - that is the kind of thing I would do! I don't really have any exciting Valentine's story - does that make me boring? My most memorable Valentine's Day was when my husband and a group of his buddies all got together and cooked dinner for all the wives. They had all of the ladies go out and then we all went to one house where the men had worked together to prepare dinner. I remember there were a lot of empty beer bottles - the dinner prep must have made them very thirsty :-) Dinner was very good - and we appreciated the thought they put into the meal.

  15. Love your incredibly cute card and what a fun idea for a post. Reading everyones V-Day memories I'm in the mood to make this V-Day special.

This isn't very crazy but when I was student council president at my high school I had to plan the Valentines formal. Half the school was coupled up and wanted a romantic evening. The other half hated the "Hallmark Holiday" and planned on wearing black to protest, " the death of true love", and to not attend the dance - how dramatic. So I decided to make the theme " My Bloody Valentine" which was the name of a popular horror movie at the time. We decorated everything very romantically but added black streamers to the red, white and pink and silver (tin foil and cardboard) knives hung from the ceiling. It was a HUGE hit and everyone attended our gothic(ish) soiree.

  16. I've actually never done anything crazy for anyone on Valentine's Day, but one year in high school I was dating a guy and he snuck into my house during school, and had fishing line strung from the three sides of our balcony (which opened up to the family room) and it held a large balloon heart sculpture. When I got home I was so surprised and it was really cool.

  18. One valentines day a few years back DH and I decided to go out to the cinema (difficult to see nice romantic movies with 4 kids in tow so a nice treat). We were cutting it fine timewise and discovered on the way neither of us has money or cards, we had to turn back home and pick them up. We missed the start of themovie and then discovered it was the dullest movie ever. I slept most of the way through!
Not sure this was crazy but it was the strangest Valentines! Will try harder this year!"

  20. What a cute story! And a cute card! Unfortunately, I don't have any great stories like that about valentine's day, but I am interested in the nestabilities dies! :)

  21. Cute card! Have I got a crazy story for you!

When I was a senior in high school, I was dating a very cute boy who wanted to attend a specific concert the weekend after Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, the concert was already sold out. I was on my way to work one Saturday morning and I heard one of the radio stations announcing a contest to win two tickets to that very concert. They had everyone meet at their location for details. To my surprise, the contest was to see who could drive around the city, totally naked, with just a V Day stuffed teddy bear in their lap the longest without getting pulled over. Looking back on the situation, I probably could have gone without participating, but at the time I was totally infatuated with him, and I thought it was worth it. I got some strange looks, and lots of honking! I have to admit it was pretty funny.

And, yes, I won the tickets! LOL

The things people do, eh? Thanks for the opportunity to win some Nesties!

  22. I have to say the most outlandish thing I did was fly to Detroit to visit my fiance at that time for Valentines day. I did not tell him I was coming until I called from the airport to get a ride! Thankfully he had not decided to surprise me and do the same thing! Now over 20 years later we are still happily married! Now isn't it funny where we find those hiding supplies!

    What a fun contest!

  25. My husband works odd hours so we don't usually get to go out on Valentine's, so one year I made a nice meal and laid out a romantic picnic on the floor. It was silly but fun!

  26. I don't think I've ever done anything crazy, but I do remember one year I boycotted Valentine's because I just had my heart broken by some jerk of a boy I had a crush on for years!

  27. I don't really think I've ever done anything too crazy. I guess there was the year that I got a giant posterboard and made a poem for my birthday and used conversation hearts for some of the words.

Thanks for the chance to win these awesome nesties.

  28. not much that i'd call 'crazy' but a couple of years ago I bought a chocolate bee and wrote on it "bee my valentine"

  29. I haven't done anything really "crazy" really, my hubby and I try and do something fun for each other every year. Last year I did a scavenger hunt with lots of clues and prizes etc along the way and at the end was me. (use your imagination lol) It was fun... I haven't even thought of something for this year, I had better get on that.

I don't have any nesties I have heard they are awesome though. Your new blog banner is darling by the way.

  30. Great card and an awesome prize to win. Thanks!

This isn't crazy, but something sweet my husband did for me. That year everyone at work all the girls got flowers, sweet cards or sweet phone calls. Me- I got nothing. I was fuming mad all the way home. When I got home the light to our sons room was on so that meant he was on the computer! I didn't notice though when I got to the door that the light was off. When I opened the front door, there was a paper rose petal trail (he cut by hand) to the bedroom, candles lit all over the house, and a sweet suprise of chocolate lotions and chocolate kisses! Needless to say, a few weeks later I found out I was pregnant with our 3rd!!

  31. The craziest thing I did: When I was a sophmore, dating a senior. Well he had talked to my friend and had her give me a ride after school instead of him. Then like 10 minutes later he pulled up next to us, said he needed my house key, because my younger brother was there locked out. He said he seen him walking and was dropping him off. I was like, "heck no!" he was suppose to go to my aunts after school. I told him, to just take him there. So then my BF said, well he wanted to run inside to get something. (my and my bro were always fighting) So I said "NO, I don't care!" My friend was like, just give him the key, and she had this serious look. I was getting mad, because I didn't want to be in trouble for letting my brother have the key..Anyway, the whole time I am being a bratty sister, my brother had nothing to do with it. He was were he was suppose to be. My BF was just trying to get in the house to put my Vday present on my bed. A cute furry bear, with some chocolates!!! I felt like such an A$$ (I did finally give him the key, because my friend insisted, and said just do it, and that he was trying to surprise me.) LOL does that makes since. ANyway, it's funny thinking about it now!!

  32. Hey Sparkle. Cute story! I never would have had the guts to give him my number...good for you! As far as a crazy story from me, the best was probably my freshman year in college. Neither my roomate nor I had a boyfriend at the time so we decided that we'd do a girls day out and go shopping, have a fancy dinner, etc. 'Who needs men?!?' was the motto for the day. She had a cute little Mustang convertible and we just thought we'd be the coolest things ever. Well, the day arrived and the forecast for where we were in western Maryland was for snow. We ignored it and went anyway. Mistake! We never made it to dinner...while we were shopping at the mall 8 inches of snow fell. I can't even begin to describe the inability of her convertible to handle the snow! We did finally make it back safely to campus but the entire ride I was hanging out of the window using my checkbook to clear snow from the windshield!!!

  33. The craziest thing I've ever done for Valentines was in HS. I was dating my love (who is now my hubby) and we both worked at Dairy Queen. Unfortunately he had to work Valentine's evening so I made a tape (CD burning was way too expensive at the time) with all the songs that reminded me of him (granted I had to wait to hear some songs on the radio!) And then "heart attacked" his car. I cut out a bunch of hearts from construction paper, sprinkled confetti all over the inside and put a huge ribbon on top that said "Happy Valentine's Day!" To top it off, I put the tape in the tape player and when he turned on the car our song played. That was so much fun!

  34. Hey Sparkle! Great card, as usual! I don't have any crazy Valentine's stories, but two years ago I was in the hospital on Feb 13 and due to have my 1st son on March 17. Well, he had better ideas and came on Feb 13th after much drama. Because he was whisked off to NICU and I was recovering from emergency surgery, I didn't get to see him until 2:30 in the morning on Valentine's Day! It was the BEST Valentine's Day I could ever hope for. (And my husband decided to stop by the hospital gift shop and buy me a 3 foot diameter heart balloon that sang various love songs every time you tapped it! It was hilarious!!!)
Thanks for the chance to win the dies!
